Inaugural Animal Walk Through Old Town Accepting Registrations

Animal Welfare League of Alexandria is hosting its first Animal Walk for Homeless Animals on Oct. 21. Community members and their pets are encouraged to join the pet promenade.

The inaugural Alexandria Animal Walk for Homeless Animals to be held this fall is now accepting registrations.

The walk begins at 9 a.m. on Oct. 21, in Market Square by Walkers joining now can find a team to join, participate as an individual walker or create a walk team.

Walkers and their canine companions will travel through Old Town Alexandria, raising awareness about pet overpopulation and the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria's efforts to combat animal homelessness.

Walkers are welcome to bring friendly, well-trained dogs with them and are responsible for cleaning up after their pets. All dogs must be leashed (no retractable leashes), licensed and current on all vaccinations.

The Welfare League also encourages walkers with cats and other stay-at-home companion animals to represent their pets and join in the promenade.
