Lyceum Hosts Holiday Children's Book Fair

Educational books and a craft activity area will be available for kids on Dec. 3.

is hosting a Holiday Children's Book Fair on Dec. 3, the day of the Scottish Walk Parade.

The fair features Usborne Books, a publisher of educational books for children, as well as a children's craft activity area. Shoppers also can donate a book to the Alexandria Tutoring Consortium, a partnership dedicated to tutoring Alexandria’s kindergarteners and first graders in literacy skills.

A percentage of the sales will benefit The Lyceum’s education and collections programs, but the holiday book fair gives shoppers the chance to help Alexandria’s youngest students by purchasing a book to donate to the Alexandria Tutoring Consortium.

ATC will give the books to students in their program to encourage them to read and develop their own personal library. ATC is a partnership of Alexandria’s faith community, city, community and the city’s public elementary schools that recruits, trains and matches volunteers from congregations, community groups, businesses and city employees to tutor kindergarteners and first graders.
