Old Town Boutique District Launches Charity Shopping Event

Participating boutiques will donate some proceeds to charities of their choice

Shop for a cause with some help from the Old Town Boutique District.

The group is launching a new community event May 14 called Boutique Charity Day during which 30 participating stores will donate a portion of proceeds to a charity of their choice.

Each retail member of the district has chosen local and national charities to support and honor on the special shopping day.

Beauty boutique , for example, will host Stacy Boylan Day. Boylan, the store’s first employee, lost her life nine years ago to cystic fibrosis, and profits from that day will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. 

Some other May 14 events include “Foundations for Success,” a new-panties drive for Dress for Success at .  plans to donate 15% of in-store and online sales to FreshFarm Market's food stamp program, and is donating 20% of sales to Alexandria’s Giving Circle.
