Irish Festival — Celebrate the luck of the Irish on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the city’s annual Irish festival at Waterfront Park.

Presented by the Ballyshanners, the festival proceeds help cover the cost of staging the city’s annual Saint Patrick's Day Parade.

Fun, frosty beverages and live music from Pat Garvey, Rocky Guttmann, Mary Smith, the City of Alexandria Pipes & Drums, and many more musical groups and Irish dancing schools.

Mike Elosh — This local singer, who sounds somewhere between Bob Dylan and Dr. Teeth from The Muppets (and we mean that in the best way), takes the stage at St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub (2300 Mount Vernon Ave.) at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Who’s got the Blues? — The Capitol Blues Ensemble takes the stage at 9 p.m. at 219 Restaurant (219 King St.). You’ll be feelin’ alright.

Standup Screech — Dustin Diamond, AKA Screech from “Saved By The Bell,” will be performing what’s being billed as R-rated standup shows Friday and Saturday at The Old Town Theater (815 ½ King St.). Ticket packages start at $25. For more details, check out the Old Town Theater website. I better see some diehards with Zack Morris cellphones.

Just to the north — The 2013 Arlington County Fair opened Wednesday, with outdoor rides, food vendors and piglet races the main draws on its first night. The fair is held at and around the Thomas Jefferson Community Center at 3501 Second St. S. and runs through Sunday.
