Del Ray Artisans, Washington Philharmonic and The Association

A quick glance at the weekend ahead in Alexandria:

Primary Colors — The opening reception for the new Primary Colors exhibit at Del Ray Artisans (2704 Mount Vernon Ave.) is scheduled for 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3. The all-media show is about how regional artists creatively use the three primary colors—red, yellow and blue—without mixing them. Exhibit runs through Feb. 2.

Washington Philharmonic Concert — The Washington Philharmonic will perform Haydn's Mass in Time of War with the NOVA Community Chorus under the direction of Dr. Mark Whitmire, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 2 conducted by the Philharmonic's Music Director Ulysses James at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4 at the George Washington Masonic National Memorial (101 Callahan Dr.). Tickets are $20. Attendees under 18 are free.

The Association — The California band with a pair of Billboard chart-topping hits—1966’s “Cherish” and 1967’s “Windy”—makes it annual stop at the Birchmere (3701 Mount Vernon Ave.) at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4. Tickets are $35 and available through the Birchmere website. Larry Burnett and Don Chapman are also on the bill.

Wounded Warrior Art — The Art League is hosting a closing reception for its IMPART Ceramics Exhibit at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5. The Art League is located inside the Torpedo Factory Art Center at 105 North Union St.
