Holiday Trolley Will Connect Old Town and Mount Vernon

Motorized trolley service between Old Town Alexandria and Mount Vernon Estate will run through holiday season.

This holiday season, a motorized trolley will be available to transport visitors from Old Town Alexandria to George Washington’s Mount Vernon and back.

The Mount Vernon Holiday Trolley will board at the corner of King and N. Fairfax streets on the hour from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from Nov. 29 through Dec. 30. The trolley will return to Old Town on the half-hour from 9:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Alexandria’s Town Crier will join visitors on the first holiday ride at 9 a.m. Nov. 29.

The tickets for the trolley include admission to Mount Vernon and cost $25 for adults and $8 for children under 12. Tickets can be purchased at the Alexandria Visitors Center (221 King St.), online or by calling 202-832-9800.

Riders can use the Visitors Center as a waiting area for the orange-and-green colored trolley, which will load in the 100 block of N. Fairfax Street.

The service is provided by Old Town Trolley Tours of Washington, DC in partnership with the Alexandria Convention and Visitors Association and George Washington’s Mount Vernon.

“Transportation to Mount Vernon is a top visitor request. The Holiday Trolley ties two extraordinary holiday experiences together making for one unforgettable experience for visitors, locals and out-of-town guests,” Patricia Washington, President and CEO of the Alexandria Convention and Visitors Association, said in a press release.
