Tucked in a shady section of northern Old Town across the street from a park, this neighborhood restaurant is popular for two reasons besides its classic Italian fare: a $30 prix frie menu and an impeccable wine list. For patrons looking for a less formal dining experience, brick oven pizza is the perfect companion to the sporting events and broadcast news displayed up on TVs by the bar. Carry-out is available but there's an incentive to sit down and stay for a while: bottles of wine are offered at a 25 percent discount during dinner on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday.
We eat here all the time. Michael has a terrific wine list, the house bread we think is addictive as crack. He gets wonderful seafood and some of the kitchen's homemade pasta dishes are really good. Vegetables are always done correctly, salume and cheese platters are good. Staff is great.

This is a secret jewel in the Alexandria restaurant scene. Off the beaten path so it has to be good. The prices are reasonable and the food is first rate. If you go, ask for Gorn...one of the best waiters around and the dude knows wine. [I only give Restaurant Eve 5 stars - you won't be disappointed here!]
