The Alexandria Renew Enterprises plant treats 13.5 billion gallons of wastewater and sewage water each year and releases the clean water into Hunting Creek and the Potomac River. The plant serves 350,000 people—residents of the City of Alexandria as well as parts of Fairfax County. The plant, which sits on 35 acres within walking distance of Old Town, offers a facilities tour for ages 16 and older.
