How about your food with a little side of history? That's what's on the menu at Gadsby's, named for the Englishman who operated both the tavern and the adjacent hotel from 1796 to 1808 (the tavern itself has been around since 1785, though). George Washington loved to eat at this historic Old Town fixture and even has a dish still named in his honor. Next to the restaurant, which boasts a swanky menu of classic American favorites like prime rib, there's a museum with restored rooms that show artifact-lovers and interested diners more about Gadsby's 16th century roots.
