UPDATE: Independent Candidates Qualify for Ballot in Congressional Races
Northern Virginia voters will choose among Democrats, Republicans and Independent candidates in congressional races come November.
UPDATE (3:45 p.m.) The State Board of Elections confirmed today that Chris DeCarlo and Mark Gibson, running in the 11th District, were verified with 1,000 signatures each earlier today. “I can’t thank everyone enough: Friends, friends of friends, neighbors, colleagues, and complete strangers,” Gibson said in a news release. “These are all voters who want to get involved in our political process, giving voters a greater number and more diverse selection of candidates for Congress. Getting on the ballot is a strong victory for democracy.” --- Independent candidates running for Congress had until June 12 to turn in 1,000 signatures to get on the ballot in November.
