Carjacking occurred early Thursday morning in 5100 block of Duke Street.
Police have charged three men with unauthorized use of a vehicle and a weapons violation related to a carjacking in Alexandria on Thursday morning. Around 2:10 a.m. on Thursday, a 24-year-old Alexandrian and a 21-year-old non-city resident were sitting in a 2004 Nissan Maxima when they were approached by three men. One of the suspects displayed a handgun and told the victims to get out of the vehicle, according to police. The three suspects jumped into the car and drove westbound on Duke Street. The victims of the carjacking were not injured. Arlington County Police Department officers located the vehicle a short time later heading northbound on Interstate 395. To the editor, On Feb. 8, 2012, the officers and members of the Alexandria Fire Department began an experience that we have not had to deal with for many years. While responding to an incident involving a vehicle fire on Interstate 395, paramedic Joshua Weissman fell from a bridge and was severely injured, succumbing to those injuries on Feb. 9. As one of the responders to that incident, and as one of the Station Officers of Firehouse 206, I would first and foremost like to express our heartfelt condolences to Josh’s wife Rebecca and the entire Weissman family.
