Voters Slowly Make Their Way to the Polls on Election Day

Alexandria voters slowly but steadily make their way to the polls today, Election Day,

Updated at 12:30 p.m. About 13% of the City Hall precinct's registered voters had stopped by to select candidates for state Senate, clerk of the Circuit Court and state representative. Republican Chris Marston, who is running for clerk, greeted voters outside of City Hall around lunchtime. "I'm pleased to offer voters a choice this election and a chance to make some technology improvements" to the office, he told Old Town Alexandria Patch. Around 10:30 a.m. about 289 voters had made their choices at the City Hall station along with 93 absentee ballots. That's out of a registered 2,828 for that polling station. Letter to the Editor: Kachouroff on Marston

Owner of a law firm and real estate title company supports Republican candidate for clerk of the Circuit Court.

Letter to the Editor: Greenberg on Marston

Alexandria resident supports Republican candidate for Clerk of the Circuit Court.

To the editor: As a history enthusiast, I'm supporting Chris Marston for clerk of the Circuit Court. The clerk is the custodian of important historical documents and I believe a love of history is an important qualification for the office. Chris has served for more than a decade in leadership roles at the Library of Virginia, our state's archives and records management agency. He worked with the Friends of the Freedmen's Cemetery to secure their tax-exempt status. An amateur genealogist, he's a member of the local Sons of the American Revolution Chapter. And, among many other …

I have known and worked with Chris Marston for a number of years. I know him professionally as well as personally. He is an individual of incredible integrity, great intellect, vision and tremendous organization. He would do an amazing job bringing the office of Clerk of Circuit Court into this century. I don't know Mr. Semonian, I am sure he too is a fine man -- but I do think after 40 years, it…   more ›
