Northern Virginia Weather: Easter Weekend Outlook

Sun, warmer temperatures on the way.

Sun and warmer weather will welcome Easter weekend this year across Northern Virginia. After Monday’s rare late-March snow, spring does appear to be making some sort of a comeback. Friday, local forecasters predict partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the low 50s. Saturday, expect much of the same only a few degrees warmer. Lows Friday and Saturday night will be in the mid-30s and there is just a 10 percent chance of rain those days. Easter Sunday—You may still want a light sweater with that Easter outfit. Expect partly cloudy skies with a high temperature of 62 degrees. WJLA reported in 2012 that Easter can be a day of weather extremes. Easter Egg Hunt in Alexandria This Weekend

Kids are invited to join a fun and free egg hunt at the Nannie J. Lee center.

Kids are invited to join an Easter egg hunt at the Nannie J. Lee Center in Old Town Alexandria. The 25th annual hunt, sponsored by the City of Alexandria and the Psi Nu Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity is free and designed for kids two to 12 years old. Hunts will be held at 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., Saturday, March 30. The center is located at 1108 Jefferson St. next to Jefferson-Houston School. Thanks for the post as I am looking for hunts close to home. However, Nannie Lee is not next to Jefferson Houston. That is the Durant center. Jefferson St is the correct address.   more ›

No plans for Easter yet? It's time to hop to it with this round-up of eggstra special events in Alexandria.

Did you receive an email recently from “Unsuccessful Lottery Notification” informing you that you did not win coveted tickets to the White House Easter Egg Roll? If so, there’s no need to despair. Try as I might to win tickets every year, I know that the White House event is not all it’s cracked up to be (pardon the second bad pun but I couldn’t resist). I secured tickets two years ago and the wait to enter the White House lawn was atrocious. I recall that the ratio of minutes spent waiting in line to minutes spent egg rolling was about 30-to-1.
