Alexandria Police Officers to Aid With Inauguration Security
Police from Alexandria, Fairfax County and other areas are sending officers to help with 2013 Presidential Inauguration security.
With hundreds of thousands of people flooding Washington for the 2013 Presidential Inauguration Jan. 21, law enforcement agencies from Northern Virginia—including Alexandria—are chipping in to help with security in the nation's capital. A contingent from Alexandria, made up of 21 police officers and 18 sheriffs deputies, will be helping. In preparation for the inauguration, the Northern Virginia Hazardous Material Teams will receive STARS satellite radios purchased by the state and issued to the teams, according to Cheryl Lee of the VDEM Grants Management Office.
