The city's Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities is replacing the black chain-link fence along the basketball court and swing set along Union Street in Windmill Hill Park, 501 S. Union St. The work is scheduled to begin Thursday and run through Sunday. The park will remain open during the replacement, but there will be construction crews and equipment in use near the playground area. Residents are encouraged to use caution. The fence will be replaced by a similar fence that is used to separate the playground area from the basketball court and street. Jones Point Park is a beautiful yet often overlooked 65-acre green space in the southeastern corner of Old Town—with vehicle entry at the end of South Royal Street. A colleague who lives on Royal Street commented that the same dog owners who exercised their pets before the restoration are still there every day! Also, she said the unfortunately the great children's playgrounds (there are two) are so remote that she would not recommend a parent seek them out without several others nearby.
