The Alexandria police officer who was shot last month is now walking and in intensive therapy.
Alexandria Police Officer Peter Laboy has left acute care to undergo rehabilitation therapy. “This is a miracle. I have seen recovery from a gunshot wound… I’ve been at this for 27 years. This is one for the books. It really is,” MedStar Washington Hospital Center Chief Medical Officer Janis Orlowski said at a news conference. Laboy is walking, alert, will say a word or two and recognizes his wife, Orlowski said, adding that the officer who was shot in the temple has up to 12 months of rehab therapy ahead of him. Vice President Joe Biden visited the Alexandria Police Department to pay his respects for the Alexandria Police Officer Peter Laboy, who was shot recently.
Vice President Joe Biden visited the Alexandria Police Department last Friday, meeting with first responders who were on the scene immediately after Officer Peter Laboy was injured in Old Town. The police department announced the news on its Facebook page. City of Alexandria police officers confiscated bullets, a loaded magazine and electronics from the home of Kashif Bashir, the Woodbridge man accused of shooting Police Officer Peter Laboy last week during a traffic stop, according to court documents. Officers also seized a desktop computer, digital discs, three cell phones, a notebook and personal documents, including two passports. The search warrant filed in Prince William County Circuit Court on Feb. 27 requested permission to seize a wide variety of digital data, such as email and chat room records.
