Before I had my son, I was slightly obsessed with the D.C. restaurant scene. I was a regular reader of the Washington Post’s restaurant chat and I prided myself on knowing the newest, hottest and best places to eat in the city and suburbs. Since the summer of 2009, however, the thumb that used to be on the pulse of the restaurant scene has been too busy being used for finger puppets. For a long time after having my son, my husband and I didn’t even go out to dinner, and when we finally did, we didn't choose the restaurant for the dining experience.
