Crime Report: Breaking and Entering on North Washington

The following crimes were reported by the Alexandria Police Department to crimereports.com from March 17-29.

Note: The addresses listed below indicate blocks and not specific addresses of incidents. March 29 – An assault was reported in the 400 block of S. Columbus Street and an arrest was made. March 29 – A theft was reported in the 700 block of King Street. There are no additional details available. March 29 – A vehicle was stolen from the 800 block of Madison Street. March 28 – A breaking and entering incident was reported in the 800 block of N. Washington Street. March 28 – Property vandalism was reported in the 500 block of Bashford Lane. March 27 – A robber attempted to steal a woman’s purse in the 100 block of Royal Street, but she held on to it and “wrestled with the subject,” according to the description provided to crimereports.com, …

Second Alexandria Police Cruiser Stolen

The vehicle has since been recovered in northeast Washington, DC.

A second police cruiser has been stolen from the Alexandria Police Department, but later was found in northeast Washington, DC. The vehicle was stolen from the 1500 block of Princess Street, probably sometime between late Friday and early Saturday. The 2007 Ford Crown Victoria was last seen parked and locked at 11:30 p.m. Friday and was noticed missing at 4:35 a.m. Saturday, according to police. Shortly after it was discovered missing, police in Washington notified Alexandria police of the location of the missing cruiser. It was then towed to Alexandria Police Department headquarters. No equipment was taken and all property was recovered from the cruiser. But the prior stolen cruiser didn’t fare so well. A locked police car was stolen last…

All kidding aside, this is conerning. Who would steal a police car? I wonder if someone is testing tracking systems and response times. Why were these thefts not noticed sooner? Were they stolen from in front of police officers' homes?   more ›
