Teaism Hosts 'Healthy Happy Hour' for Health Professionals

The second happy hour will be held on Friday evening.

Healthy dining hot spot Teaism recently started a series of “healthy happy hours” designed for members of the health field to network and chat about their fields. “We’ve noticed that with our focus on healthy dining, a lot of our customers were in health fields,” Teaism co-owner Michelle Brown told Patch. “Old Town Alexandria has such a network of yoga studios, gyms, karate, massage therapists and integrative medicine specialists – it makes sense.” The second in this new series of happy hours will be held Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the store on N. Teaism Opens New Location in Old Town Alexandria

Teahouse on N. St. Asaph Street opened last week and is already bustling.

Teahouse Teaism opened its doors last week and business is bustling. The new 4,600-square-foot restaurant, located next door to Trader Joe’s, focuses on healthy, wholesome meals, co-owner Michelle Brown told Patch. The chef bakes everything in-house, Brown noted. “We cook here, we don’t bring in frozen foods and then cook them,” …

Washington, D.C.-based tea house would move into space on N. St. Asaph St. that also houses Trader Joe's.

Washington, D.C.-based tea house Teaism is looking to venture into Virginia by opening a restaurant in North Old Town. The applicant for the restaurant, Vitalitea, has asked the city for permission to open a shop at 682 N. St. Asaph St., which is in the building that also houses Trader Joe's, Starbucks and FedEx/Kinkos. The previous tenant at the 682 location was Sizzling Express, which closed in August 2009 and the space has since remained vacant. According to the application, city staff recommends approval of the request, which also asks for a parking reduction. Vitalitea proposes to operate a "fast casual" restaurant in about 4,700 square feet of space with an emphasis on Asian-inspired food, including on-site sales of alcohol and no …
