Witnesses report what they're calling a "road rage" incident in the Trader Joe's parking garage last weekend.
Witnesses last weekend reported a road rage incident in the Old Town Trader Joe’s parking garage. One witness tweeted that there were at least three cars with major damage. “Impact would have killed pedestrians, IMO. No joke” wrote Scott Canady. Canady said shoppers in the store at the time heard the collision. An Alexandria Police Department spokeswoman told Patch that an incident did occur in the garage at Trader Joe's March 22 at about 3:44 p.m. “However, the incident was cleared as 'no report'. The only information given is that it occurred on private property and there were no injuries, thus no police report,” police Public Information Officer Ashley Hildebrandt wrote in an email to Patch.

Charges could be pending for child's mother.
A 1-year-old girl was left unattended in an unlocked car in the Old Town Trader Joe’s parking garage for about 30 minutes on Saturday before Alexandria police found the baby’s mother. A Trader Joe’s employee contacted the store manager after noticing the child alone in a station wagon sitting in a car seat around noon. The manager then contacted the police, who quickly arrived on the scene with an EMS crew. A police spokesperson said the child was quickly reunited with her mother, described as a 40-year-old Hispanic non-city resident, after police arrived on the scene. Charges could be pending after police consult with the Commonwealth Attorney’s office on Monday, the police spokesperson said.

Trader Joe’s corporate officials say they are acting “out of an abundance of caution” and ordering the recall of one type of its house brand peanut butter over salmonella concerns. “Trader Joe’s Creamy Salted Valencia Peanut Butter” should not be eaten, the Monrovia-based specialty grocery chain said. “We have no confirmed information that suggests this peanut butter is unsafe to eat,” the company stated. But the food should not be eaten “pending health-related inquiries.” Trader Joe’s has several stores in the D.C. area—including Foggy Bottom, Old Town, Clarendon, Bethesda and Falls Church. The Food and Drug Administration posted the company’s voluntary recall on its web site, but did not comment on the company’s statement. The potential …
