Tickets are now available for the George Washington Birthnight Banquet and Ball. The Feb. 16 event at Gadsby’s Tavern Museum includes an 18th Century banquet, English country dancing, dessert, character reenactors and General and Mrs. George Washington. Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. and costs $100 per basic ticket. For $125, a guest may dine in the same room as the Washingtons and for $200 per person guests may dine at the Washingtons' table. Held annually, Gadsby's Tavern celebrated the birth of George Washington with a night of English country dancing.
Coat tails, corsets, and period costumes were in abundancea on Saturday night at Gadsby's Tavern. The establishment hosted its annual George Washington Birthnight Banquet and Ball. After the three-course banquet, guests gathered in the ballroom for a night of English country dancing. The dance was led by Dance Master Corky Palmer. Before each dance, Palmer gave a brief walk-through of the different steps to the dance. To help the dancers, Palmer also remained on the floor to help guide the less experienced folk to ensure everyone had a fun time.
