Whether you’re supporting President Barack Obama or Republican hopeful Mitt Romney, you can’t vote in Alexandria if you don’t know where to go or if you go to the wrong polling location. To the editor: I have worked with both candidates running for mayor of Alexandria. For me, the biggest issue isn’t that the mayor and I agree on everything, it is that the mayor is able to build consensus on the city council, listen to different views in the community and find compromises that will move Alexandria forward. Having worked with both people running for mayor, Bill Euille is the clear standout on these qualities. He goes out of his way to meet with people, to give the community time to find common ground and compromise and to listen to others. Dear Editor, In reply to Mr. Paul Friedman's Letter to the Editor published Monday, I would like to offer a response. First, it is surprising that such a letter, or should I call it the promotion of the Alexandria Democratic Party's ballot, was published just one day before the election. Second, the reasoning Mr. Friedman used to oppose City Councilman Frank Fannon blurs reality and is totally misleading. I doubt that Mr. Fannon, or any other accountable public servant, would cut Alexandria's education funding by millions just to fund the Alexandria Pipe and Drum Corps. To the Editor: The next Alexandria City School Board has its work cut out as they try to restore credibility to the body and demonstrate that an elected board can provide Alexandria with effective public education leadership.
