We are in the heart of summer and our gardens are thriving in ways that they have not in some years, thanks in part to a gardening partnership, but also to more effective irrigation strategies. After years of watering with a single hose, I have grown to appreciate the value of having easy access to water for each area of the yard that needs it. When we invested in a batch of robust perennials for the backyard a few years back and planted a number of bulbs, seeds and seedlings along the fence in the front yard, we did not give much consideration to our watering set-up.
