Whiz Kids: Celebrating Alexandria's Youth

Do you know a kid, group or troop that deserves to be celebrated? Sure, we all do! Are you the: We all know kids, groups and troops who do meaningful and impactful things everyday. They are the things you tell your friends, neighbors, parents, and siblings in moments of excitement. These are the events you photograph and record on video to share with others and remember for years to come. Here is your opportunity to share that excitement and celebrate those accomplishments, milestones and life events on a grand scale. Whiz Kid of the Week: Brian Downie

In many ways, Brian seems like a typical 5-year-old boy, but as you will soon learn, he is so much more!

Whiz Kid of the Week:  Brian Downie School: Home Schooled Grade: Kindergarten Age: 5 What makes Brian a Whiz? His amazing resilience! In many ways, Brian seems like a typical 5-year-old boy. He is proud of having just lost his first tooth and of sleeping in his new bunk bed at night. His mom, Melanie Downie, describes him as gentle, caring, funny, smart and a great friend. He loves to ride his bike, play board games (especially chess), go to the park, collect bugs and enjoy the great outdoors. But, unlike the majority of kids his age, he’s not able to do those things with the same freedom that most kids enjoy. In fact, Brian sometimes can’t even go to public places. Brian’s great attitude is a result of having the greatest Mom, Grandparents and Aunt and Uncle. He is constantly surrounded by Love. He is such a cute loveable guy; when you see him you would never think he has a health issue. We pray for Brian and are convinced that he will win the fight against Histiocytosis. JoyJ   more ›
