ReplyA lot of these comments make way too much sense. We have to appreciate that there were probably numerous paid consultancies who made the decision/recommendation to add a no left turn sign. Obviously none of us are as qualified (or compensated) to comment on same. The fact that so many comments suggest that this is a poor idea just underlines that fact. Thank goodness for government to save us from ourselves.

That's a great idea! I love rattling windows and that narrow alley is perfect for that! By the way, does anyone have trees that need trimming (and hang over the road). Just let me know and I'll drive down your street and take them out for you. I love the smell of diesel in the morning.

ReplyDo they rate "cleanness?" or just compliance (ie., the number of deficiencies). Seems to me it is the later.
Would it be possible to get an article on restaurants with violations instead?

ReplyHi, thanks for letting me know. I'm a tour bus driver (driving a 2011 ginormobus 265 with the extra vibrating motor) and I specialize in driving tourists to Old Town; actually, they aren't really tourists but bored 8th graders whose only economic spend is an ice cream cone. I often get lost on my drive and have problems making left and right turns. Now that I can't turn left there (it was always hard, but I did it anyway), I'm planning on going through the neighborhood to the south. Mayor Euille told me that Captains Row on Prince was a good route. See you on the Ghost Tours!

On the article Alexandria Named ‘Best Foodie City in the South’

No question Alexandria was in the "south" for much of its history. But it no longer fits this cultural definition; certainly not when it comes to food. So I have no idea why Alexadria is a "southern" foodie city. Not just because we have a lot of lousy restaurants, but because few (if any) have any southern flavor.
Also, what battles were fought in Alexandria? The town was occupied for the entire war and ringed with federal fortifications?

ReplyAlexandria is in the "south" in 2013? Because of all the southern restaurants we have? Like Bilbo Baggins and the Chart House? Foodie paradise!!!

ReplyWhat is The Washington Post? But seriously, does anyone subscribe to it anymore? When I walk the dogs I never see it on any doorsteps. Funny, the only place I ever see delivered newspapers these days is on the steps of City Hall.
