Tanger Outlets at National Harbor to Open Friday

Will you check them out or stay on the other side of the river?

Tanger Outlets at National Harbor, a new 330,000-square-foot center with more than 80 retailers located just across the Potomac River from Alexandria in Prince George’s County, Md., is scheduled to open at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22.

Retailers for the outlet center include Banana Republic, Coach, White House Black Market, Brooks Brothers, IZOD and H&M, among others.

Many are offering coupons and deals to mark the opening of the center, which offers free parking.

Tanger will celebrate the new center with a fireworks display at 7 p.m. Friday.

Many in Alexandria have thumbed their nose at National Harbor since it opened in 2008, with critics of the city’s waterfront plan presenting the development as the antithesis of what Old Town is and should be.

Mayor Bill Euille, on the other hand, has said the city has embraced National Harbor.

“It’s good for the region, particularly here in Alexandria,” Euille said in September.
