Alleged Gunshot Incidents Reported in Old Town

Two separate incidents occurred Feb. 11.

Two separate incidents of possible gunshots fired in Old Town occurred Monday.

At about 1:20 a.m. Feb. 11 the Alexandria Police Department received multiple calls from residents who reported hearing gunshots fired near Snowden Hallowell Way and Montgomery Street.

Department spokeswoman Ashley Hildebrandt said “there is some indication there was a shooting” related to a piece of evidence found.

Several residents of Old Town Commons expressed concern to Patch that the incident was somehow related to a house where illegal drugs reportedly were being sold in the neighborhood. Hildebrandt said the police do not have information about any such drug house in the area.

Police returned to the area later that day to try to discover any evidence that might be more visible in the daylight.

Around 8:40 p.m. the same day, the police again responded to reports of gunshots fired — this time around the 1200 block of Madison Street.

Hildebrandt said the police canvassed the area but did not find any evidence of an incident at that location.

Both investigations are ongoing and police ask anyone with any information on the possible shootings to call 703-746-4444.
